Recently while browsing around for some news on things, I ran across this press release statement for the upcoming fifth movie in the Resident Evil movie franchise:

“The wildly successful film franchise adaptation that has grossed nearly $700 million worldwide to the popular video game series, Resident Evil, returns in its highly anticipated fifth installment, RE5IDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION in state-of-the art 3D.”

Has it seriously grossed about $700 million worldwide? Is that honestly the case? The truth of the matter is that yes, yes it has.

Why do you hurt me movie going audience? WHY!?

Resident Evil: Afterlife grossed a total of 296 million all on its own. Which is astounding when you consider that the sloppy piece of crap only cost a reported $60 million to make. What makes that more strange is the fact that Afterlife (the 4th in the series) grossed what Extinction (the 3rd) and Apocalypse (the 2nd) did combined. I’m not sure exactly what happened during the period of that particular movie’s release, yet the results are staggering. Resident Evil was officially reinvigorated thanks to the 3D movie that should have marked a continued down-turn for the franchise.

Instead though, you people went out and saw it in droves!

STOP IT!

Paul W.S Anderson doesn’t deserve this money. He ruined the Alien Vs Predator series dammit! The man single handily messed up both Alien and Predator in one go. That is honestly quite an achievement, but it is the type of achievement that should get him thrown into the Uwe Boll camp of crap we don’t pay for. Look at this man’s track record – LOOK AT IT! He has made three Death Race movies now. THREE!

I was at first going to enter into this short bit by making fun of the “highly anticipated fifth installment” bit, but then I started to look at the facts. It turns out this movie is highly anticipated. Well, so is Twilight, so I guess I just have to deal with people having an opinion that isn’t mine. It is perfectly within their right to be wrong.

Also, why the sudden name change from Resident Evil: Retribution to Re5ident Evil: Retribution? They’re trolling us right? They have to be.
